Salon owner Paula McHugh has successfully created the NINE ZERO brand and began her journey with a bright, modern and relaxed hair salon based in Stamperland in the South Side of Glasgow.

Paula has transformed NINE ZERO from this small salon to expand to new luxurious and relaxing premises on Fernleigh Road in Merrylee in December 2020, which now incorporates skin and beauty services. The ability to expand is not an easy feat, especially after the year 2020 has been, so it highlights the impressive talent and service that NINE ZERO has to offer.

The salon is known for their strong hair care expertise, innovative cutting techniques and style. All stylists are highly trained, creative, and driven to understand the needs and desires of clients. Each stylist is highly trained on precision cutting and leading trends focussing on techniques such as Ombré, Balayage and temporary pastel shades, and with the expertise of their own Wella Master Colour Expert they can create bespoke colours to help you achieve a colour which allows you to express your individuality, the only thing they’ll refuse to compromise on is maintaining your healthiest hair but they can guarantee that you’ll leave the salon looking and feeling fabulous.

Appearance and well-being are their highest priorities and with their Aesthetic Skin Therapist on board you can be sure to be feeling and looking your best. Offering luxurious manicures and pedicures, waxing services, nails and facials. In their Skin Clinic the therapist will prescribe the best treatment and products to suit your skin type, using high performance facial machines and premium cosmeceutical products.

NINE ZERO is dedicated to service and value and the team sincerely enjoy what they do. They believe that individuals look forward to their salon appointments, it is somewhere to escape the pressures and demands of everyday life and they get to focus on themselves for a short time. MEET THE TEAM

Paula

With over 22 years of hairdressing experience, Paula lives and breathes all things hair. Not only is she the proud owner of the salon, but she’s also hands-on behind the chair, bringing her passion and expertise to every client.

When she’s not in the salon, Paula is busy running the business from behind the scenes, spending quality time with her family, heading off on holidays, and enjoying a well-deserved night out whenever she gets the chance.

The heart of the salon, Paula brings talent and dedication into everything she does.

Rachel

Rachel has been hairdressing for over 4 years, but her journey in the salon started long before that. She’s spent the last 10 years with us, working while at school and through her studies, giving her tons of hands-on experience and a real passion for the industry.

She loves all things colour and is excited to begin her hair extension training soon. Rachel is also our social media guru – the face behind this account – bringing creativity and personality to everything she posts.

When she’s not in the salon, you’ll find her spending time with family, jetting off on holidays, going out for dinner, or enjoying the odd concert or festival.

Lauren

Lauren has been part of the Nine Zero team since May 2019. A hairdresser by trade, she now focuses on the day-to-day running of the salon, keeping everything running smoothly and supporting the girls with colours whenever they need a helping hand. You’ll also catch her doing the odd blow dry here and there!

When she’s not in the salon, Lauren is busy running around after her two young kids – and she definitely loves a night out whenever she can get a babysitter. Her organisation, experience and down-to-earth nature make her an essential part of the Nine Zero team.

Corina

Corina joined Nine Zero in November 2023 and brings over 35 years of hairdressing experience to the team. A fantastic cut and colourist, she truly loves all things hair and brings passion and precision to every client she works with. Her specialty is hair-up — so if you’ve got a night out, event or special occasion coming up, she’s your go-to gal for gorgeous, long-lasting up-dos.

When she’s not in the salon, Corina is either at karate or spending quality time with friends and family. With her skill, energy and warm personality, she’s a much-loved part of the Nine Zero team.

Janey

Janey joined Nine Zero in August 2025 and brings 8 years of hairdressing experience to the team. Originally from Fife, she trained in a 5-star salon in Edinburgh, giving her a strong foundation in high-quality, modern hairdressing.

When she’s not in the salon, you’ll usually find her 2-stepping at music events, catching up with pals, or fully embracing her role as cool auntie. With her skill, energy and fun personality, she’s a brilliant addition to the Nine Zero team.

Becca

Becca is our talented nail technician here at Nine Zero, offering all things nails, pedicures and a range of beauty treatments. As a qualified beauty therapist, she also provides brows, LVL lashes and selected waxing services, making her your go to for all round glam and self-care.

When she’s not in the salon, Becca loves nothing more than relaxing at home watching TV or enjoying a few drinks with family and friends. With her warm, friendly nature and attention to detail, she’s a much loved part of the Nine Zero team.

Olivia

Olivia is our amazing salon assistant, and you’ll usually find her at the backwash or helping the girls with blowdries and colours. With her hardworking attitude and friendly nature, she keeps the salon running smoothly and the clients feeling pampered.
